Pediatric Plastic Surgery
Our Pediatric Plastic Surgery team provides evaluation and treatment for babies, kids, adolescents and young adults whose growing bodies need repair or reconstruction. Depending on the particular problem, a single visit and or procedure may be all that is needed, and in other cases care is timed based on a child’s physical development and changing psychosocial needs. We consult with families before birth if a prenatal concern arises, and we provide ongoing care through all stages of childhood and adulthood. UCSF Benioff Children’s plastic surgeons are leaders and members of interdisciplinary professional groups including the Craniofacial Center, Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies Center (BVAC), Hand and Reconstructive Surgery Center, and Plastic Surgery Peripheral Nerve and Complex Limb Reconstruction Center. This is because we care about treating the whole child and family and understand that many physical differences can affect appearance, function and well-being, and are best treated comprehensively by teams of specialists. Our surgeons are among the most experienced in the nation, and we are proud to continue to care for our pediatric patients as they transition to adulthood, in our adult clinics held by the same surgeons and staff.
